ABOUT US

Once an old beer and cider house , the Rose and Olive Branch is 250 years old and stands on what used to the the Crossroads at the foot of a hill in Windsor Great Park.

The hill where the pub now stands proudly was known then as Gallow Hill on top of which stood a Gibbet, over the years this has been corrupted to be now named Callow Hill.

Possibly an old Cider house, during the Civil War in the 17th century, the Royalist and Cromwellian forces met here to sign a Treaty, upon completion of which the leader of the Roundheads presented the elder of the Cavaliers with an Olive Branch as a symbol of peace, and received in return a Red Rose. It was from this event that this Inn derived its name and it's believed to be the only one with this name in England. We have used this story in creating the new logo, which takes colours from the original sign, which can be seen on the wall in the pub. We are a Family owned business & Freehouse.
